Multi-Commodity Traffic Signal Control and Routing With Connected Vehicles

A real-time traffic management policy that integrates signal control and multi-commodity routing of connected vehicles in networks with multiple destinations is developed. The proposed based on a formulation the store-and-forward model assumes all are able to exchange information infrastructure. Vehicles share about their current location final destination. Based this information, strategy determines both optimized timings at every intersection vehicle-specific link network. actions, i.e., times updated cycle delivered by finite horizon optimal problem cast into rolling framework. underlying optimization convex, thus method suitable for operation large networks. validated via micro-simulation study up twenty intersections and, simulations, outperforms traffic-responsive single-commodity model. scalable computation effort increasing network sizes prediction confirms computational efficiency method.
